Speech: Mind the Gap, Navigate the Divide

“Mind the gap” is a visual warning phrase issued to rail passengers to take caution while crossing the horizontal, and in some cases vertical, spatial gap between the train door and the station platform. In
business we experience the same warnings, that special gap between business (train door) and technology (the station platform). It would be easy to resolve this by just putting up a warning sign when going into a boardroom but then what? Where are those warning signs to be mindful of those pitfalls experienced when that divide between business and tech was not navigated. Business Analysts find the Purpose of WHY, cultivate the mindset, and find the reason the business exist. Business Analysts create that shared view for business by synthesising a common understanding of what the business shared interest in success is.When looking at customer journeys, dig beneath the surface to look at the core of what is supporting the journey. Knowing is just half the battle.
